Work in Progress

It was almost like a whim, but an involuntary one. "We should make a blog," Katlyn said. I tried to thrash her hopes for as long as I could before I submitted to the fact that we would be awesome at it.

It's going to be an interesting journey full of blood, lachrymose, and laughter, but hopefully just the last one. Mostly.

FREEDOM

College is about discovering one's self--experimenting, adventuring, theorizing, etc.  So, it is entirely acceptable to change your mind and ultimately realize your passions.  This very thing happened to me, roughly yesterday morning.

You see, as it has been stated a few times on Fitzy, I was a CS minor.  This fact has now changed.  What happened?  Well, I'll show you.

First off, realizing that coding is relatively boring and time consuming and convoluted really tapped me on the shoulder, spun me around, and bitchslapped me into realizing that I actually didn't even like it.

In fact, I disliked it.

Thanks, "realizing"!

Here is a sample of code so you can see why it is respectably awful:

Can't Photoshop do this for me?

Now, I know for all you proficient-in-java-and-any-other-computer-language pros, this doesn't seem all that bad, despite the fact this code is a bit flawed and ugly.

But for me, a minor perfectionist in the chillest way possible (just the slightest bit ironic), this truly bothered me that I could not get this "simple" problem correct.  Yes, I am admitting failure.  (Maybe I should have looked at the book, but seriously, the prof should have actually explained some things before sending us off to code circle shapes.)

I have figured out that I like computers in a more conceptual way rather than a technical code way.  So there you go.

Anyways, I have finally discerned my calling in life:  Film, and Communications.

That's right.  I am now a double major.  Still not as impressive as D's triple, but hey, my high school sucked in the whole having AP classes department.

Watch out, World.  I will be communicating to you in every format you can imagine.  Epic.

-K
